About the Artist:
The foundation of British artist Daisy Collingridge’s practice lies in her ongoing examination of the human body. Working fluidly across sculpture, photography, and performance, she interrogates its anatomy through exaggerated forms, supple textures, and an almost haptic use of colour and softness.
Collingridge is driven by a curiosity about the internal structures that shape us - systems we rarely see and often do not fully comprehend. Her work gives physical presence to these hidden elements, bringing the internal outwards into sculptural, tangible form. Raised by parents working in the medical field, the body was never a taboo subject for her, but rather a matter-of-fact reality. This early familiarity was intensified by a formative encounter with Dr. Gunther von Hagens’ landmark exhibition Body Worlds in London in 2002, where she saw real anatomical bodies displayed. Influences can also be traced through public sculpture, notably Damien Hirst’s monumental painted bronze anatomical figure Hymn(1999–2005).
